Interpretation of Permian fossils and stratigraphy in SE Asia is made difficult by the lack of a globally accepted time scale. Different authors used different sets of stage names, the names of which originated from the traditional centers of Permian studies in the USA, Russia, China or Western Europe. Consideration of the Quaternary stratigraphy, sea-level history and detailed bathymetry of the Straits of Singapore suggests that a marine connection between the Indian Ocean and South China Sea through the Straits may not have existed until the last interglacial period (oxygen isotope stage; OIS-5e).
Quaternary Stratigraphy of Asia & the Pacific IGCP () China, Hong Kong, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thaliand, Viet Nam & Australia United Nations The principal lithologies, thicknesses and stratigraphy of the sediments of 35 Atlantic Islands are reported upon. Rocks older than the upper Triassic occur only on the Falkland and S. Georgia Islands. The Jurassic, as well as the Cretaceous are mainly concentrated on Cape Verde and the Canaries. The Antilles and Bahamas comprise a part of the sedimentation Cited by: 4.
Until recently, Quaternary geology of Thailand was very little known. '!he first general outlined of Quaternary deposits in Thailand was made by Brown and others (). SUbsequently, Alexseev and Takaya () and Takaya (, a, a) made detailed studies and descriptions of Quaternary outcrops in the Central Plain. Hattori (a. The International Union for Geological Sciences \(IUGS\) on 29 June, ratified a proposal by the International Commission on Stratigraphy that the base of the Quaternary System\/Period and the base of the Pleistocene Series\/Epoch be lowered to that of the Gelasian Stage\/Age.

The Subcommission on Quaternary Stratigraphy (SQS) is a constituent body of the International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS), the largest scientific organisation within the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS).
It is also the only body concerned with stratigraphy on a global scale for the whole geological column.
Its most important major objective is the establishment. Definition of Quaternary. The Subcommission of Quaternary Stratigraphy has published their proposed definition in the Journal of Quaternary Science (, p.
): Formal ratification of the Quaternary System/Period and the Pleistocene Series/Epoch with. An abridged version of the book was also published, and it was put on the website of International Commission on Stratigraphy.

Quaternary stratigraphy of Asia and the Pacific. IGCP Quaternary strata in China mainly comprise continental deposits in a variety of depositional settings. The continental Quaternary in temperate northern China consists mainly of eolian and fluvio-lacustrine deposits; that in subtropical southern China, mainly of vermiculated red soils, cave/fissure deposits, and fluvio-lacustrine deposits; and that in the alpine Tibetan Cited by: Pacific Cell—Friends of the Pleistocene Field Trip FebruaryQuaternary and Late Pliocene Geology of the Death Valley Region: Recent Observations on Tectonics, Stratigraphy, and Lake Cycles Field-trip guidebook and selected papers dealing with various aspects of the Quaternary and Pliocene geology of the Death Valley Size: 6MB.

Asia - Asia - Stratigraphy and structure: The recorded history of the Precambrian, which covers more than 80 percent of Earth’s geologic history, is divided into two eons: the Archean, between roughly 4 and billion years ago, and the Proterozoic, between billion and million years ago.
In Asia rocks of Archean age are found in the Angaran and Indian platforms, in the North. Quaternary Stratigraphy of Asia and the Pacific IGCP () China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Republic of Korea, Australia and New Zealand. Mineral Resources Development Series No.
