Mar 25,  · Differential geometry and topology are essential tools for many theoretical physicists, particularly in the study of condensed matter physics, gravity, and particle physics. Written by physicists for physics students, this text introduces geometrical and topological methods in theoretical physics and applied mathematics/5(7).

However, both the need to keep the size of the book within the reasonable limits and the fact that accounts of the topology and geometry of relativity are already available, for example, in The Large Scale Structure of Space-Time by S. Hawking and G. Ellis, made us reluctantly decide to omit this topic. Topology and geometry for physicists by Charles Nash Download PDF EPUB FB2

The book presents several very interesting (and advanced) issues from topology and differential geometry with applications to (particle) physics. The book has been written for theoritical physicists which makes the book accessible to a large scientific public and not only for mathematician.

The book is excellent. Many locopfl.com by: Nakahara - Geometry, Topology and Physics. The go-to book for mathematical prerequisites for e.g. gauge theory, string theory etc. if you ask 90% of physicists.

I personally think it's terrible because it doesn't explain anything properly, but I guess it's good to learn buzzwords.

Written by physicists for physics students, this text introduces geometrical and topological /5(5). Applications from condensed matter physics, statistical mechanics and elementary particle theory appear in the book.

An obvious omission here is general relativity--we apologize for this. We originally intended to discuss general relativity. However, both the need to keep the size of the book within the reasonable limits and the fact that accounts of the topology and geometry of relativity are.

The book by Mikio Nakahara Geometry, Topology and Physics was originally published in a series of Graduate Topology and geometry for physicists book in Physics; there is a new publisher and a new (3rd) edition and I only have the 1st edition. I believe the author wanted to add some material on quantum information in the new edition.

Regardless, you can check out the comments on various sites. Written by physicists for physics students, this text introduces geometrical and topological methods in theoretical physics and applied mathematics.

It assumes no detailed background in topology or geometry, and it emphasizes physical motivations. Topics include differential forms, homotopy, homology, cohomology, fiber bundles, connection and covariant derivatives, and Morse theory.

A concise but self-contained introduction of the central concepts of modern topology and differential geometry on a mathematical level is given specifically with applications in physics in mind. All basic concepts are systematically provided including sketches of the proofs of most statements.

Jan 20,  · When reading this book one can both admire these authors and feel sympathy with them.

They have made an honest effort to explain the concepts of differential geometry and topology in a way that is understandable and appreciated by the physicist reader/5(5).

May 30,  · The other two are Nakahara’s Geometry, Topology and Physics and Frankel’s The Geometry of Physics. An informal survey of physicists I know suggests that Nakahara is regarded as the standard because of its completeness, and that Nash and Sen’s book is the second choice, less complete but well regarded for its intuitive approach.
